When the jokes all over
Kitty gave him a hard look and sighed. “Hey, it isn’t all your fault. If everything was your fault we’d need to have a long talk about what happened to Logan and I in Japan back when I was 14. But it’s not and that shall never be discussed. Don’t be so hard on yourself. At least you’re trying to make up for your past mistakes.” She sighed and pushed her now empty bowl away from her and forced a smile.
“That sounds fun and also terrifying. Should I be worried about my health if I come with you?” She teased him, trying to edge the conversation about into a lighter mood. Seemed every conversation turned serious these days.
“Sometimes, Kitty, it feel like everyone blame me fo’ dey problems.” He chuckled, but it was the truth, sadly. It was a rarely voiced truth, but still how he felt. He polished off his food as the check came. He paid with cash, leaving a very generous tip. He smiled and offered her his arm.
“Depends, you got a family history a dahbeetus?” He chuckles and walks with her outside again, winding along the way back to the Avengers Mansion. “B’fo’ we go ta sleep, we go up on d’roof. Okay?”
